About Us Our small but expanding club has been running for the past two years and we've accomplished a |
|
fair bit in our short life span. With numerous trips across the country, usually to the south west (for obvious reasons), lots of visits to our local "break" Joss Bay at Broadstairs and various socials, from barbeques to the usual pub nights out, to keep the great unwashed happy, all of which you can see in the photos section. We've used qualified instructors for lessons across the ability levels and have run trips specifically for absolute beginners wanting to get into the sport. We've even ended up trying to put up a dilapidated 70s tent in rainy March weather at 2 o'clock in the morning with about 2 torches. Hopefully at the end of this year we'll have people confident and able enough to give the BUCS competition a go which is usually held at Fistral Beach in the summer.
The club has an increasing range of boards, wetsuits, gloves, boots, all in different sizes so that we minimize the amount of money needed for hiring on trips. This is done in conjunction with the Alder factory outlet in Devon.
We have struck up a relationship with Dave and his sheds at Joss Bay and he's ready to give lessons at any time and hire out equipment to us on our visits including some kayaks if its flat and we're bored. There are plans in the near future to build an indoor beach centre at Joss bay to house the equipment, run a small café and have a relaxation area of sofas, TVs, computer games, again for if its flat and we're bored.
Of course for trips we have to just count our chickens before they've hatched in regards to the forecast but be prepared to drop everything if anyone of us decides to take a trip to Joss Bay if it decides to make waves. So keep an eye on Magic Seaweed, Surf Core, or even the local weather report and if you spy any surf then be sure to let everyone know and we'll go on a last second jaunt. |
